Officially announced today, iRiver HD Smart (also known as the iRiver K1), is the first media player iRiver that offers native support for Matroska files (MKV), well known and appreciated by those who put price on High Definition movies. iRiver HD Smart will be sold in four versions, different in terms of facilities (integrated tuner, storage capacity, connectivity), priced between $ 204 and $ 310, so:

* Basic 8GB – $ 204 DMB (Digital Media Broadcasting)
* 8GB – $ 248
* Education 16GB – $ 266
* Wi-Fi + DMB 16GB – $ 310

Here are the common specifications of the four versions of iRiver Smart HD:

* 3.5 inch screen, capacitive, multitouch, 480 x 320 pixels
* MicroSD slot
* Support: MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, WAV, AC3
* Support Video: MKV, AVI, WMV, MP4, TP, MPG, ASF
* Photo support: JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, RAW
* Other files supported: TXT, DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF, HWP, HTML, HTM, MHTML
Battery Li-Ion 880 mAh
* Autonomy: 18 hour audio, video 6 o’clock.

IRiver PMP’s Smart HD is currently only found on South Korean territory.
