Samsung has released to market this weeks series of hard drives F3EG that have a high storage capacity of 1.5 TB or 2TB, each divided into four 500 GB platters. The new disc incorporating green technology and environmental protection, called “EcoTriangle”, which generates a low power consumption and quiet operation.
Competing against products, company officials claim that the new HDDs consume 40% less power in “idle”, ie by 10% in reading and writing modes. The products use a SATA II 3Gbps interface and a memory buffer of 16MB or 32MB.
Drives will be sold for 140 or 180 dollars.
