Matteo CIBIC designer created a distinctive set of speakers, named Hi-Fido, as a dog without a head, it is true, but the collar. Hi-Fido “barks” at about 150 watts, using the acoustic properties of ceramics to play a high fidelity sound with a unique bass reflex. This toy measures 40 × 30x25cm and will appear in a limited range of only 50 pieces, of which ten available for the United States.

Will be available from April for an unspecified price yet, but interested persons may be included on the waiting list for the website designer.

Music robot companion: Hasbro and Sega unveil A.M.P

If you’ve been having trouble finding a dance partner then you’ll want to check out what Sega and Hasbro has to offer as a solution. We reported earlier this week that Sega introduced a 15 inch robot girlfriend that is supposed to be marketed toward lonely Japanese men. So, I guess it is not a great leap to hear that Sega in partnership with Hasbro has developed another robot that knows how to get down.

AFP is reporting that the dancing robot is 2.4 feet tall, has stereo speakers and turntable shaped hands which can actually be used for “scratching”. The robot is called the Automated Music Personality or A.M.P for short. An owner can connect their MP3 player or iPod to A.M.P and watch the good times roll. Of course, the robot will truly be rolling since it stands on two wheels and can even bob its head as LED lights flash. A.M.P will be sold in the U.S. and Japan beginning in November and will retail for US$745.

I just found out that a company called Optoma has just introduced the first Pico projector based on the DLP (Digital Light Processing) Pico chipset. This projector isn’t just for the iPhone or that snazzy iPhone 3G, but it is designed for any mobile device including iPods, PDAs, smart phones, and digital cameras.

According to the company, this is a “world’s first”, and will allow users to share photos and videos with a projected image that is 100 times bigger than that of their normal screen. Best of all, this projector is small enough to fit in a user’s shirt pocket.
